ABOUT ME

bio

NĂșria Guiu Sagarra is a dancer and choreographer. Her artistic practice explores the relationship between bodies, image, and power dynamics from a personal, sociocultural, and speculative perspective. Her works investigate the complexities of contemporary culture through an anthropological lens, particularly those related to digital environments, memory, and affect.

As a performer, she has collaborated with companies such as Cullberg Ballet, GisĂšle Vienne, Carte Blanche Dance Company, Batsheva Dance Company (Kamuyot / Riksteatern), Ingri Fiksdal, Jasmin Vardimon, La Veronal, Kobalt Works, among others. She is a certified yoga teacher from the BKS Iyengar Center in Copenhagen and holds a degree in Anthropology and Human Evolution from the UOC in Barcelona. She has worked as an artistic assistant for Arco Renz and GisĂšle Vienne, and has performed in several of their creations such as Crowd and This Is How You Will Disappear. As a choreographer, her work focuses on the relationship between bodies, images, affect, power, and digitality. Likes is a solo that was selected by the European platform Aerowaves 2018 and received several national awards. Spiritual Boyfriends, Futuralgia (a commissioned piece for the company Unusual Symptoms of the Dance Theatre Bremen), Cyberexorcisme, MEDIUM, and Supermedium (both in collaboration with Norwegian choreographer Ingri Fiksdal) are among her most recent works. NĂșria tours nationally and internationally with her own creations, in venues and festivals such as HAU Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin), Biennale de la Danse (Lyon), Oktoberdans (Norway), SAAL Biennale (Estonia), Les Plateaux (France), Taiwan Dance Platform, Batard Festival (Belgium), Tanzfestival Rhein-Main (Germany), Grec Festival (Barcelona), among others. In 2022, NĂșria Guiu received the National Culture Award of Catalonia for her choreographic work exploring the relationship between dance and the digital environment, always from a socio-anthropological perspective.
